Police have fined an offender for aggravated littering after they were caught throwing a lit cigarette out of a car window.

Griffith police observed a lit cigarette being thrown out of a vehicle heading along Beelbangera Road in Beelbangera at 10pm on December 27.
After pulling the vehicle over, both the male driver and the female passenger denied any knowledge of the cigarette being thrown out of the vehicle but after bringing the pair to the Griffith Police Station, the 26-year-old female admitted to throwing the cigarette out of the vehicle and she was issued with an infringement notice for aggravated littering.

In other police news, a report has been made to Griffith City Council after a dog attacked a five year-old child on Sunday evening.
The child was playing with friends in a house at 7.15pm on Sunday when a black Labrador entered the open backdoor and bit into the left-hand side of the child, leaving puncture wounds.
The dog then bit into the child's left calf before being separated and the child was taken to a medical practitioner to be treated.
No provocation of the dog was reported and a report has been made to Griffith City Council's Animal Control department.
