A 17-year-old Griffith man spent his New Year's Eve in hospital after being bitten by a redback spider on this day in 2015.
The man said he initially thought it was a mosquito bite, as he was being attacked by insects at an outdoor party throughout the evening.
CITY BACKS NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY PLAN
Mayor John Dal Broi said he would support a New Year's Eve community event on this day in 2015.
Griffith residents were excited about the prospect of creating an annual tradition for end of year celebrations, as the city failed to boast one at the time.

BURNT BODY FOUND ON GRIFFITH ROADSIDE
Police asked for the assistance of the public in identifying charred remains on the side of Wilga Road at Willbriggie on this day in 2010.
Two men were sighted near the crime scene and three distinctive pieces of jewellery were uncovered, during initial investigations south of Griffith.
KANGAROO SHOOTING BAN PUT IN PLACE
The NSW Government banned the shooting of grey kangaroos in the Griffith area due to a drought-induced population decline on this day in 2010.
The ban came as a bid to replenish dwindling numbers of eastern and western grey kangaroos in the region.
TOP BABY NAMES OF 2009 ANNOUNCED
The Area News announced the most common baby names in Griffith for the year of 2009, on this day in 2010.
Aidan took top spot for the boys with four, while Ella was the most common name for girls, as three were welcomed into the world.
