An initiative running for well over 30 years will once again bring a glimmer of Christmas joy to Griffith families in need.

Dedicated St Vincent de Paul's volunteers were busily wrapping up gifts, toys and food to put into hampers for those feeling the strain of the year's financial hardships.
President Yvonne Couper said this year was especially difficult for many in the area.
"This year has seen a big demand for our assistance," Mrs Couper explained.
"There are many people who are not working, taken off the land because of the strain of the drought."
Past president Joan Forlico has taken part in the Christmas hampers for as long as the drive had been running.
"The generosity of the Griffith community never ceases to amaze me," she said.

The donations have come from all the catholic schools in the region, as well as from the parishioners from Yoogali, Hanwood and the Sacred Heart churches.
Griffith City Council, and the adult day-care centre also donated items to fill up the hampers with joy.
