The Marian side was able to make an early breakthrough when Noah Gaske (20) was dismissed by Noah Kirkman (1/46), but Patrick Payne and Daniel Whitworth were able to get their side back on track.
The second wicket pairing put on 32 runs before Whitworth was caught off the bowling of Rahul Giran (1/24), but the wicket did little to slow the progress from MRHS with Payne (41) and Ben Fattore (68) pilling on the runs.
Callum Mirtschin (35) was able to add some late runs to the MRHS total to bring it up to 226 once the final wicket fell which was claimed by Anurag Dhot (2/11) who alongside Rylan Mecham (2/36) were the pick of the bowlers for the Marian side.
MRHS were able to claim an early wicket in Sean Culgan (1) before Cannon, and Noah Kirkman tried to rebuild their innings as they looked to chase down the massive target.
The pair were able to get their side to 40 before Gaske (1/16) struck to remove Kirkman (18), but the middle order was able to contribute with Mecham (22), and Luke Cannon (14) were able to support Jack Cannon (42) who fell just short of fifty.
Krish Chaudhary (10) was able to break double digits, but the Marian side eventually ran out of time as they finished on 184 to hand MRHS the Cudmore Shield with the convincing win.
In the girl's game, it was Marian who was able to come away with a three-wicket win after being set 55 for victory.
While a shield was given out on the day, it is only a replacement.
In 1975, Des, Pat and Joe Cudmore donated a shield for competition between the Griffith High Schools. Unfortunately, the original has vanished with Joe Cudmore still holding out hope of finding the original.
Mr Cudmore has contacted the schools and hasn't been able to track it down and is now turning to the general public. Anyone who might know where it is can contact Mr Cudmore on 6964 6623 or 0487686255.
