A sneak peek behind those walls of blue reveal the progress being made on the new Ambulatory Care Hub.
Health Infrastructures' Project Director Nicolas Dicondio was entrenched in the moment, standing in the walls he has seen as mere lines on paper.
"It's amazing to see this project come to life, and to have everyone here today to see the progress so far," he said.
After the building stage finalises in late April, progress will then include operational training, staff orientation and the transporting of equipment to fit out the new building.
The hub is expected to be fully operational and start accepting patients mid-2020.
The new 1100 square metre hub has over 60 rooms, including consultation rooms, multiple bathrooms, eight chemotherapy chairs, treatment space, a rehabilitation gymnasium, a fracture clinic room plus more.
With the services to all be gathered under this one roof during the enabling stage, the main works will then progress in the old hospital building.
Hospital general manager Greg Brylski reiterated his pride at being a part of this new chapter in Griffith's future.
"We have a new program 'kindness works here', and it has really been taken on board not just by nurses, doctors, but the building team also, who have just as much ownership of these works," Mr Brylski said.
Cr Dal Broi was also on the tour, and said after well-over 20 years, seeing the building from the inside was a feeling he just couldn't have imagined.
"To see this all happen now, I don't know how to describe it - relieved, pleased - but we are well on the path to becoming the health precinct for the Western Riverina."
Mr Dicondio said this 'new model of care' will be used as a prototype, and will set the benchmark for other redevelopments around the state.
