The Leagues Panthers fourth-grade side were able to pick up their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon after an upset win over Coro Cougars.
It was a tough start for the Coro side after they won the toss and elected to bat. They lost five quick wickets with Alex Minato (1/6), Harry Morel (1/5), Angad Brar (1/9), Clancy Male and Tyler Minato picked up a wicket each.
Noah Kirkman (6) and Patrick Mickan (1) put on 10 runs to try and get their side moving in the right direction before Tyler Minato (2/11) and Oliver Young took two quick wickets.
Cooper Rand (42) got his side moving in the right direction as he put on 51 runs with Joseph Macri (4) before Male (2/3) took his second wicket for the day while Rand fell six runs late to Young (2/12).
Lucas Wood (10*) added some late runs to see the Cougars finish their innings on 9/94.
Wood (1/12) was able to put the pressure back on the Panthers with the early wicket of Bailey Drinkwater (0) while Jack Furner picked up the wicket of Isaac Conlan (0) to have the Panthers on 2/8.
Jai Kenny (15), who swapped sides to help the Panthers fill a full side, led at the top of the order to get the score to 34 before he was caught and bowled by Digby Jones (1/8).
Alex Minato was able to pick up where Kenny left off and alongside Male was able to get his side within 11 runs of victory before he fell to Mekhi Simpson (1/9) but Male (18*) and Morel (7*) were able to guide their side to a five-wicket win with eight balls remaining.
In the other game, Hanwood was able to take a three-wicket win thanks to a strong bowling performance from Blake Flanagan.
Angus Argent-Smith (15) made a strong start at the top of the order for the Diggers side, but the bowling of Flanagan swung the momentum in Hanwood's favour.
A four-wicket haul to Flanagan saw Diggers lose 4/9 in the space of four overs and if not for Sean Garcia (19) the score could have been worse for Diggers as they were bowled out for 75.
Josh Serafin (19) led the way at the top of the order while Rylan Mecham (16*) made the winning contribution to see Hanwood come away with the three-wicket victory.
