Griffith batted first and hit up a big score of 186 thanks to some good batting from Bede Kenny who made 40, Cooper Rand 30, Ryan Andrighetto not out 28 and Jed Budd 20.
The Hillston top order gave their side some momentum and they did not lose their first wicket until the score reached 99.
Wickets then started to fall and at 8/118, Hillston's retired batsmen returned and dragged the side up to 9/181 with Reif Leach bowling two clutch balls to finish the innings when two boundaries would have given the visitors a win.
The bowling of Bede Kenny 3/12 and Cooper Rand 2/10 helped to settle things down for the Griffith side.
Griffith will take on Narrandera in their next game on December 15 in the final game before the Christmas break.
