The build lease for a private hospital in Griffith was signed on this day in 2014.
Community members across the MIA rallied together to make the construction possible, with the first mention of a building site being back in 2008, it took six years to put pen on paper.
10-YEAR-OLD BOY CAUGHT USING ICE
After a recorded case of a 10-year-old boy using the drug ice, Griffith Aboriginal Medical Services lobbied for the establishment of a methamphetamine clinic and rehabilitation facility on this day in 2014.
Sid Barone, alcohol and drugs program manager, said he believed that ice use had increased in the district over the past decade.
BIKERS RIDE FOR TOY RUN
Over 100 motorcycles hit the pavement for the annual Griffith Toy Run on this day in 2014.
Over $3,000 was raised for Can Assist, with the community effort being highly commended by ride witnesses in Rankin Springs, Yenda and Griffith.

BUSINESSES ON BANNA ROBBED
A spate of break-ins left local business owners disgruntled on this day in 2009.
The businesses that suffered at the hands of theft were Pandya Brothers Supermarket, Individual Hair Care, La Petite Hairatorium and Miei Amici Cafe.
NORTH AND EASTS MERGER
The Griffith District Football Association announced the biggest shake-up to Riverina football on this day in 2009.
The Norths and Easts club merger was introduced to solidify the future of both clubs, with the joint venture ushering in a new team name and footballing era.
This served as the beginning of Griffith City Football Club.
