It's nice to think that whatever happens, the resilience of the community will help power us through until when it all gets a little bit easier.
What's clear though, it's going to get tougher before it gets easier.
The drought, which has gripped part of this nation for over three years, is now properly biting into the MIA.
We've enjoyed many advantages which have helped keep the wolves from the door but now it looks like some of those advantages are starting to slip.
Unlike our friends down along the Murray we still have a general security allocation - although it's not much and forecasting from WaterNSW suggests that while they're doing their best, our allocation next season isn't going to be much better.

If there's anything which is clear - there are improvements which can be made but the difficulty of improving something which crosses the length and breadth of this state into Queensland and Victoria and then into South Australia shouldn't be underestimated.
While the politicians will say that the drought can only be solved by rain - and they're unfortunately right - they also have the power to address structural issues which are exacerbated during a drought.
So that means ensuring that the drought assistance measure which are available shouldn't be so onerous that people don't bother accessing them.
There's no doubt that the going is getting tough and right now, there's a convoy of tough people descending on Canberra to try and make it a little easier for all of us.
Even if the protesters get exactly what they want, it's unlikely that it's going to magically solve all the issues that we face.
