It was a tight tussle at the top of the men's first division of Griffith Touch on Monday night with Marchiori Construction taking a 5-4 win over Mitch Cooper Plumbing.

It was the Mitch Cooper Plumbing side who crossed for the first try of the afternoon with Ben Vearing getting over the line.
The lead was short-lived with Brendan Giason scoring twice in quick succession while Michael Agnew was also to get across the line to give Marchiori Construction a 3-1 lead.
The Mitch Cooper side reduced the gap to a try and should have headed into the break level however Vearing was unable to securely ground the ball on the halftime siren to see Marchiori holding a 3-2 lead at the break.
The sides traded tries in the opening stages of the second half with Michael DePaoli getting over for the first try of the second half before Ben Jeffery was able to make a break up the middle of the field to keep Mitch Cooper Plumbing within a try.
Brendan Giason completed his hat-trick to push the Marchiori Construction lead out to two tries before Jonathan Morris closed the gap back to just one try heading into the final minutes of the game.
The Mitch Cooper side wasn't able to find the equalising try as Marchiori came away from the tight tussle with a 5-4 win.
In the other men's top division match, Suman's Engineering came away with a 6-4 win over KX450F.
In the early game in the women's top division, it was Snows Excavation who were able to come away with a 10-2 win over Sisters.
It was a fast start for Snows Excavation with Andria Zanotto, Erin Bonetti, Johane Oberholtzer and Madison Casey getting over to give their side a four-try lead before Serenity Amiatu got over for the Sisters first try.
Erin Bonetti scored her second while Emma Woolnough found her way over to see Snows Excavation leading 6-1 lead. Snow continued their strong game in the second half as Georgina Horton found her way over while Mel Bonetti scored twice before Erin Bonetti completed her hat-trick.
On a tough afternoon for Sisters, Megan Polkinghorne scored a late try to reduce the gap to 10-2 when the final siren sounded.
In the other women's clash, Luna Wild took a 6-0 win over S.J.R Industries.
