Gulfam Ahmed (1/24) took the wicket of Harrison Steele (4) while Inam Ullah (2/28) chipped in with the early wickets of Kyle Bennett (6) and Jack Rand (0) to have the Cougars struggling to find their feet.
The fourth-wicket partnership of Mark Bennett (39) and Ben Signor (32) got their side moving in the right direction while Thomas Camm (24*) chipped in with late runs to see the Cougars eventually bowled out in the 26th over on 126.
Hanwood also had a difficult start with Tom Bartter (2) and Ahmed (2) falling to the bowling of Camm (2/12) while Charlie Jones (1/8) picked up the wicket of Luke Demamiel (5) and Kyle Bennett (2/7) knocked over Ullah (3) and Daniel Whitworth (0) to see Hanwood struggling on 5/25.
Oliver Bartter was the only Hanwood batsmen to get a start and while Callum Mirtschin (5) was able to play a supporting role in a 25-run partnership with Bartter (61), when Mirtschin was run out it spelled the end with Ben Signor (2/18) taking the final two wickets to see Hanwood bowled out for 105 and give the Cougars a 21-run win.
