It was a tough opening period which proved difficult for the Griffith side to find their way out of.
In the opening 10 overs, the Griffith side was only able to put five runs on the board and with wickets starting to fall it was looking like it was going to be a long day for Griffith.
Sean Culgan (3) and Billy Evans (0) both fell with the score on five with Ben Fattore (0) and Daniel Whitworth (4) following closely behind.
The middle-order wasn't able to have much more success with Meli Ranitu (2), Noah Kirkman (0), Sean Garcia (4) and Rahul Giran (0) fell to have the visitors sitting on 8/28 off 19 overs.
Luke Cannon (20) and Rylan Mecham (10*) were able to offer some resistance before two wickets in as many balls saw Griffith bowled out for 49.
The Griffith side needed to take early wickets, but Wagga was able to get the score to 15 before Evans claimed their first wicket, but they weren't able to cause a collapse they needed.
Wagga closed to within 17 runs of victory before Sean Garcia was able to take a catch off the bowling of Evans (2/10) to remove Tom Wilson (11) but Alex Weightman (19*) and Lucas Liivio (1*) were able to guide their side to an eight-wicket win.
Griffith will look to bounce back when they return home to take on Wagga White on Sunday.
The Warren Smith Cup side will start their season this weekend when they travel across to Wagga to take on Wagga Blue.
