After winning the toss and electing to bat, Leagues were able to make a solid start with Reece Matheson and Ryan Greenaway scoring 16 off the first two overs before Matheson (9) was caught off the bowling of Leon Vico.
Conor Edenden joined Greenaway as the pair put on 18 runs to keep the scoreboard ticking over before Edenden (4) became Conlan's (2/24) second victim while Greenaway (22) followed the next over after being knocked over by Luke Peruzzi (2/27).
While Sam Payne (5) fell cheaply on his first-grade debut Leagues were able to get contributions from Ted Jones (14), Kierren Williams (23), Satvir Chahal (14) and Ryan Minato (14) which helped their side reach a final total of 121 off 38 overs.
Ben Fattore (3/13) did the damage in the middle order for the Diggers while Corey O'Reilly (2/23) chipped in as well.
In reply, Diggers didn't make the best start with Dean Crack falling in the second over to the bowling of Fawad Shah (1/13) to have Diggers on 1/5 leaving the Diggers side to make a slow recovery to their innings.
While they only scored 33 runs off the first 13 overs, they were looking like they would get back on track before Greenaway (1/31) struck to remove Luke Peruzzi (8).
The fall of wicket was almost a good thing for the Diggers as Matt Crack and Tom Valeri picked up the scoring rate and had their side well and truly back on track with their team sitting at 2/60 at drinks.
The momentum continued to go their way until Crack (5) was dismissed by Edenden which triggered a collapse from the Diggers outfit.
It was a damaging spell of bowling from Edenden (5/28) which saw him take five wickets including the crucial dismissal of Valeri (56) to have Diggers back on the ropes as they lost 6/15 over the course of eight overs.
Ben Fattore (9) tried to keep his side in the game, but when he was the final wicket to fall, Leagues were able to escape with a nine-run victory.
