Yoogali SC's Luke Santolin believes it is an excellent opportunity to get the successful under 18s side from 2018 back together and on the same page.
"That under 18s team which was coached by Sante Donadel and John Keenan, two life members of our club that team has the ability to become one of the most successful ever," he said.
"At the moment we have found that they may be scattered a bit all over the place because they haven't had that path or the competition to justify sticking together but the NPL and FFA Cup these types of prestigious competitions are what a serious football should be striving to participate in.
"We will welcome anyone with ambition to join our club as we look to take on plenty of new challenges."
Santolin said the move to an under 23s concept provides a great mix.
"You are still able to play five senior players in the under 23s, but they are really putting the focus on development," he said.
"We see a lot of our senior players who are maybe 30 years plus as being able to provide the glue or the experience for these younger players as they are pushing for a first-grade spot.
"When you are 18-years-old, and by the time you are 21 you are playing senior level NPL you can really have a long and exciting career with a core group of teammates that I think every successful club side needs."
