Exies Diggers have picked up where they left off last season and have taken a four-wicket win over Exies Eagles in Exies No 2.

A strong start from the Exies side had them sitting at 22 before three quick wickets while Luke Peruzzi and Dean Villata (1/19) taking a wicket each while Exies' captain Phil Burge was run out by Corey O'Reilly.
Aditha Jayasuriya and Tom Spry put on 24 runs before O'Reilly (1/18) struck to remove Jayasuriya (7) but Exies were able to get moving in the right direction with Spry and Hayden Forner.
The pair were able to put on 83 runs for the fifth wicket before Peruzzi (2/26) picked up the wicket of Forner (27) while Leon Vico took the key wicket of Spry (65).
Pavan Cherupalli (10), Travers Pickmere (13*) and Marc Tucker (11) added late runs to see their side reach the end of their 40 overs on 8/179.
Mick Duncan (9) and Peruzzi (6) fell early in their side's innings before the Valeri brothers, Tom and Theo, came together to get their side back on track.
The pair bit on 61 runs for the third wicket before Spry (1/27) struck to removed Tom Valeri (36) before Matt Crack (1) followed closely behind when he was caught off the bowling of Jayasuriya.
Theo Valeri (83*) was the constant for his side and with assistance from Jarrod Cahill (10), and Brendan Wade (16) were able to guide their team to a nail-biting four-wicket victory with just two balls remaining in the innings.
The Diggers have the bye in round two while Exies Eagles will take on Coro Cougars at West End Oval next weekend.
