The Griffith Demons took on Leeton in their opening game of the MIA Women's Basketball League, besting their rivals 57 to 47.

Leeton looked like they were headed for victory as they held the lead in the final quarter, but the Demons rallied together and came away with the win.
"It was really pleasing to see that even when we were down, the girls kept their confidence and we managed to get the win," Demons' coach Caroline Snow said.
In the girls second match, they unfortunately lost to a strong West Wyalong outfit 52 to 27.
"Some of the girls didn't even know each other before taking the court, but they put in a great team effort," Snow explained.
There was an initial struggle for numbers, but the Demons did manage to get a side together minutes before starting the match.
The game was a tight contest until the final quarter, when West Wyalong found their stride and began putting points on the board.
