All the effort from the winter nights at training and travelling around the region each weekend will pay off.
Alternatively, it can be heartbreak as chances are missed and then it's the opposition which takes hold of the premiership cup.
So, plenty of action and great stories come from footy finals - except they really only come around once a year.
But there's so much more to communities than their sporting teams and sport isn't something everyone gets out of bed in the morning for, even if you're a one-eyed Collingwood or Parramatta supporter.
For the last year, the Murrumbidgee Conservatorium of Music has been working away laying the foundations for an institution to nurture a different aspect of our community - culture.
Griffith already boasts some great cultural assets like the theatre, Pioneer Park Musuem and the art gallery, not to mention the diverse multi-cultural aspects of the community.

Nurturing young community members in the skills and art of making music is the logical next step.
It's also an important asset to have when we talk about 'loving the lifestyle', because many larger cities than Griffith boast a strong conservatorium - as well as sporting pursuits.
Already there's 70 students enrolled in Griffith's conservatorium's programs and they've called out for more music teachers to lend their skills.
Soon enough a building to operate as a permanent base for practice and performances will be a necessity to grow further.
It's not just about having a roof over their heads, there's very specific needs which need to be addressed.
For instance, you can't have trumpets and violins practising at the same time.
So while a large room for combined performances is needed, there also needs to be places where a musician and their student can learn and practise in peace.
This is the ideal moment for Griffith City Council to step up and support the future development of the city.
Supporting that future development is more than just providing more room to build houses on, or taking a strong stance on the provision of irrigation water for the community - it's about offering opportunities for all of our residents.
