The 27 Holes Foursomes Championships was played at the Griffith Golf club last Sunday and the old saying "the cream rises to the top" was on show with last year's club champion, Josh Stapleton and this year's champion Matt Staines combining to win the title.

They combined to shoot three over par 110 for the 27 holes, two over par 73, carding birdies on the 5th, 9th, and 14th then held it together for one over par on the final nine, sole birdie on the 9th.
Runners-up Col Vearing and Jason Magoci were five back on 115 with birdies on the 2nd, 3rd and 15th to go out in five over par 76, then combined for 39 on the final nine, a birdie on the 6th.
Graham and Nathan Campbell were the Handicap winners on 114 1/2 nett.
A solid field of 85 players contested the Livefit single stroke monthly medal last Saturday.
Luke De Valentin 70 nett won the A Grade medal, firing 76 off the stick, nailing a birdie on the 18th. He pushed Bryan Trembath into runner-up on a countback, draining a birdie on the 9th.
Matt Rumming 70 nett won B Grade, draining a birdie on the 9th from Grant Keily 71 nett, shooting 90, nailing on the 10th. Gavin Aventi 67 nett - the day's best score - won the C Grade medal from Swans Ace, Lucas Conlan 69 nett, draining a birdie on the first.
Brian Corner and Justin Robertson won the Pro Pins, Par Three's, 4th Col Vearing, 7th Neil Mahaffey, 11th Grant Gyles, 16th Travis Payne. Vouchers to 76 nett.
There was a two grade single stableford for members last Sunday. Sim Tuitivake 39 points won 0-18 Grade ahead of Lama Lolotonga 36 points. Skeet Milne 35 points best in 19-36 Grade over Andrew Mott 33 points.
Nathan Campbell won the 7th in, Tony Dillon 16th. Vouchers to 31 points.
- Entry forms for the Caltex Fives Summer Savings Teams competition are open. The first competition commences on Monday, October 7 to Sunday December 8. The second competition starts on January 13 to March 15.
- Presentation night is on March 21.

Roy Calabria, 35 points, won 0-18 on a countback over John Bortolazzo, 35 points, Peter Den Houting, 37 points, best in 19-27 Grade, Doug McWilliam, 35 points, second on a countback over Don Catanzariti. Charlie Jones, 36 points, won 28-36 Grade, Ron Smith, 35 points, second. Pins to 4th Roy Calabria, 8th Bill Brown, 15th Brad Fawcett. Vouchers to 33 points on a countback.
