Hanwood Country Women's Association (CWA) members took a step back in time this week to toast the branch's 70th anniversary.

Members of the branch celebrated the milestone with afternoon tea, cake and a look back through some of the branch's memorabilia.
Formally convened in August 23, 1949 the branch has been a driving force in the community for women and families, health and well-being.
Special guests included current Murrumbidgee Lachlan CWA Group President Lois, Stalley, Marg Evans CWA Griffith Vice President, Hanwood CWA president Dawn Beaumont-Stevens, treasurer Pauline Murray, Mary Lorenzi, Zoe Ziliotto and Janelle Bennato.
Ms Beaumont-Stevens said it was special for the Hanwood branch to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
"We thank all those dedicated women, past and president, that kept the flag flying for the past 70 years," Ms Beaumont-Stevens said.
"We are and have been a talented group of dedicated and caring women, brought together by common interests and desire for friendship, who work together to serve and support our community to achieve a better future for families."

Over the years the branch has fundraised for charities such as the Griffith Women's Refuge, Can Assist, Griffith Base Hospital and Pioneer Lodge Griffith.
Ms Stalley said she was excited about the future of the CWA and acknowledged the history and all the beautiful women that have given so much over the past 70 years.
