Yenda Rotary has had a busy month with the opening of the new photo stands with the pictorial history of Yenda, at the Rotary Park. These photo stands were the project and passion of the late Tom Conlon. His wife Jan Conlon and family unveiled the display on August 17, with the support of Yenda Rotary and friends. The Rotarians, particularly Ross Blake, is interested in hearing from businesses or community groups who would like to advertise in the tourism noticeboard. Advertising is free so it is a great opportunity to let the community and tourists know what is happening around town.
On August 28, Yenda Public School supported local firefighter Gavin Raccanello in raising funds for support and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease. The SRC ran an Ice Bucket Challenge. Over $1200 has been raised so far!
Deep and rich learning occurs every day at Yenda Public School where our students flourish and thrive. Students have the opportunity to excel in the classroom, on the stage and on the sporting field. This term we welcome the Murrumbidgee Regional Conservatorium of Music into our school where students will be given the opportunity to learn the violin, viola and cello. Year 3/4 students are preparing to compete in the Trent Barrett Shield sporting competition, and our debaters have experienced a number of wins against other local schools.
Over the past two weeks, the Riverina Wine Show has been held at the memorial hall with over 800 wines entered. These included local wines, cool climate and Italian varieties. This Friday is the Wine Show Dinner where the winners will be announced.
Don't forget to drop out to Yarran this Saturday, September 14 for Live in the Vines.
