Josh Stapleton found his mojo, firing par 71 to take out A Grade with 36 points, carding birdies on the 1st, 15th and 18th.
Runner-up Mark Townsend also handled things well, also carding 36 points, but lost the countback, with 10 pars.
Club champ Matt Staines carded 34 points, playing off +4, and fired two-under par 69.
John Harrison defied the conditions, carding 39 points to win B Grade, 21 points out 18 in with six pars.
He finished well ahead of Lance Perry, 32 points, recovering after 12 points out to card 20 home.

Conditions were no better on Sunday for the two-grade single stableford.
Mick Catanzariti won 0-18 Grade on 36 points, ahead of Tuiru Phillip, 35 points. Brett Jones, 39 points, won 19-36 Grade, Lee Kimball (38) was runner-up.
Wayne Tyndall won the 7th pin, Lama Lolotonga the Pro Pin. Vouchers to 32 points.
The September monthly medal, a single stroke will be played this coming Saturday along with the second round of the Handiskins.
Sunday's event is the 27 Holes Foursomes Championships, with a single in conjunction with a single stroke today.
Griffith Golf Club members are being advised that a greens renovation will be completed next week.
The veterans played a single stableford last Thursday. Brad Fawcett, 36 points, won the 0-18 Grade from Gerry Cox, 33 points.
Joe Cudmore, 39 points, was best in 19-27 Grade from Doug McWilliam, 38 points, on a countback from Graeme Gifford, 38 points.
Gordon Druitt, 40 points, won 28-36 Grade from Noel Foley, 36.

Veterans are being advised that due to the course renovation next week, the vets competition will be on Friday, September 20.

Derek Langford won the 0-18 Grade on +3; Tony DeMarco, +1, finished second.
Don Catanzariti, on +4, won the 19-36 Grade from John Brennick, +3.
