Despite best efforts with a garden hose, one man's property could not be saved from severe damage from a fire on Monday morning.

The resident was on his lounge when he smelled smoke. Upon investigation he saw smoke coming out from the roof.
He called 000 when it became apparent his efforts at extinguishing the blaze himself were futile.
Rural Fire Service on scene shortly after the 7.15am call out, with police and Griffith Fire Brigade following around the same time, arriving when the property was well alight.
While no-one was injured, the house was extensively damaged.
VANDALS
In other news, police are on the hunt for those responsible for vandalising the kiosk at Lake Wyangan barbecue area at a time between Friday night and 3pm on Monday.
Inspector Kim Traynor said the graffiti was being taken very seriously.
"Graffiti is more than a nuisance crime. It is considered to be serious and is always dealt with through courts, even when the offenders are young people," she emphasised.
"Particularly damage to council and public buildings - it is an ongoing cost to the community."

STOLEN CAR
Police are also asking for the community to keep their eyes out for a stolen car, taken between Sunday 6pm and 12pm on Monday from Gundaline Court.
The vehicle is described as a 1998 beige Toyota Camry station wagon.
