The Roosters were able to make a fast start with Noah Hey pushing his way over however weren't able to hold the lead for long with Blake Wood capitalising on a mistake from the Roosters.
Joe Rovere crossed to give the Blueheelers a 10-6 lead with 10 minutes gone before the open nature of the game continued with Jordan Magoci crossing to bring the sides level at 10-all.
It was the Roosters who were able to take a 14-10 lead into the break with Sam Bellato scoring in the corner after 21 minutes.
Ill-discipline started to creep into the game from both sides with Roosters' Hey and Yenda's Ty Powell both spending 10 minutes on the sideline in the sin bin before Yenda's Chanel Asomua was sent from the field after a lifting tackle on Thomas Bowditch.
Despite being down on numbers, the Blueheelers were able to cross twice through Charlie Tiana and Isaiah Little before the Roosters hit back with Oswald Herrmann getting over while a penalty goal from Tom Fattore saw the sides locked at 20-all when the hooter sounded.
