Yoogali SC claimed a thrilling 4-3 win over Deniliquin Wanderers to take out the Reserve Grade championship on Sunday at Yellow Tail Park.
Two goals in three minutes from Andrew Ross and Joshua Keenan sent Yoogali into a comfortable lead at the 23 minute mark but Deniliquin struck back with a pair of goals from Josh Perizzolo and Aaron Piercy before the half-time whistle.
Yoogali regained their lead in the 63rd minute thanks to Keenan's second goal of the match, but the Wanderers drew level once more in the 74th minute through a Perizzolo long-range strike.
However, the renewed deadlock was short-lived, with Keenan breaking through for his third goal of the match two minutes later to secure the title for Yoogali.
Yoogali SC captain John Keenan said it was a fantastic achievement to claim the win over a Deniliquin side who made every match a close one.
"Every game we played against these guys, its been so close," he said.
"But to our credit, [it was] a complete squad effort."
It was a tough end to the campaign for the Wanderers, who claimed the Reserve Grade minor premiership by 10 points but fell at the final hurdle in their first season in the Griffith competition.
However, it wasn't all bad news for Deniliquin, with Wanderers defender Mark Plant named the most valuable player of the match.
