Ladies took to the stage wearing the most extravagant millinery hats, each one more elaborate than the last.
But the most spectacular hat of all was handcrafted and worn by Elizabeth Paterson, who surprised nobody when she took out the classic lady of the day award once again.
She's been honing her millinery craft for about 15 years, and now she makes some of the most eye-catching hats in the region.
For the competition she wore a blue-and-pink hat and dress that she decided to make after experiencing a flash of creative inspiration one day.
"I went to Melbourne on a trip and found this awesome fabric - that was my inspiration," she said.

Miss Paterson also made a hat for her friend Julieanne Lawrence, who won the couple of the day award with her husband Aaron Lawrence.
The two of them made for an adorable pair, with a coordinated colour scheme and matching flower decorations.
Mrs Lawrence has competed in Fashions on the Field for nine years, and she was thrilled to take home a sash for the first time on Saturday.
She gave credit to her husband for the win.
"He knew how much it meant to me so he came along," she said.
"He was a very good sport."
Meanwhile Mr Lawrence said all the credit for the award went to his wife, saying that she was the one who had all the fashion sense in the household.
"I've got none. I would have been here in my workboots otherwise," Mr Lawrence said.
"She told me everything I had to wear and how to wear it. She's the mastermind."
This year there were more awards than ever before, with seven categories and prizes going to the runner-ups for the first time in the show's history.
There was also a fair share of blokes, who took their place on the stage while their mates yelled ironic words of encouragement at them.
