The volunteers of the Meals on Wheels program were thanked on Wednesday as part of a nationwide event celebrating those who contribute to the program.

However, it was business as usual for the Griffith Meals on Wheels organisation, who held their yearly Cuppa for a Cause event at the Yambil Hub as part of National Meals on Wheels Day celebrations.
The Cuppa for a Cause event aims to raise awareness of the program through the hosting of tea parties, with funds raised going to helping those who are financially disadvantaged have better access to food.
Griffith Meals on Wheels coordinator Charmaine Ceccato said the event was important as it furthers the awareness of the cause and allows the organisation to pay thanks to businesses and volunteers who keep the organisation running.
"It's not just about raising the funds, it's also about bringing awareness for Meals on Wheels," Ms Ceccato said.
"And who doesn't like a cuppa?"

This year's event was backed by Beyond Bank, who provided some food for the event and made a small contribution.
Meals on Wheels has more than 35 thousand volunteers across the state, with the Griffith program using more than 270 volunteers to deliver meals to recipients.
