AFL Riverina will hold two club forums on Sunday where David Burgess will deliver his recommendations to clubs.
The AFL Riverina Competitions Review, the biggest of its kind in a decade, has been more than 12 months in the making.
Clubs across AFL Riverina are unsure what to expect but East Wagga-Kooringal president Steve Absolum said it was imperative that the workload on volunteers be eased.
"Footy is a simple game but they are taking the enjoyment out of it," Absolum said.
"It would help having one-day football. It is the same volunteers on Saturday that there is on Sunday. We're overworking our volunteers.
"Volunteers are walking away because there are too many jobs to be done."
Wagga Tigers president Anthony Lyons admits while he does not have the answers, he believes sustainability is the key.
"The clubs that can self-produce the majority of their players are the only ones that will survive in the longer term," Lyons said.
Barellan president Jeff Mickan doubts the review can provide the answer to their biggest issue - player numbers in a small rural community.
But there is a couple of things he would like to see.
"One thing would have to be same day football," Mickan said.
"I suppose not to centralise it any more than possible. I hope they still keep in mind the little towns in between, even though the bigger centres generate more players."
Griffith president Jeff Harris wants to see a premier competition maintained but also does not want to see the smaller clubs disappear.
"I hope it doesn't dilute the standard of our top tier competition. For us, the Riverina Football Netball League, we see as the premier competition and we would rather see it maintained or improved," Harris said.
"I believe we have to make sure it is sustainable for clubs across all competitions."
Sunday's forums will be held in Leeton in the morning and Wagga in the afternoon.
