Group leader Silvia Shaw will receive a Silver Wattle award from the Governor-General at a ceremony in Wagga Wagga later in the year.
The Silver Wattle is awarded to outstanding adult members of the Scouts who serve in a leadership role for more than ten years.
Ms Shaw was pleased with the award but said the recognition is not why she remains involved with the Scouts.
"There has been a lot of kids that I've seen over the last 20-odd years go through the system," she said.
"I do it because I get to see personal growth in all the youth members and give them life skills.
"We are developing leadership skills for them as they are our future leaders."

Ms Shaw has been involved with the Scouts for more than 20 years, starting her involvement with the organisation when her son joined in 1998.
During her time with the Scouts, Ms Shaw has held several roles in the 2nd Griffith Scout Group, including the leader of the Cub Scout and Scout programs and was recently appointed the Western District leader for the Riverina Scouts program.
Riverina Scouts region commissioner Ian Petty said Ms Shaw selflessly devotes her time and energy to the Scouts for the benefit of the the children involved.
"Silvia is a dedicated and committed leader who is truly deserving of this award," he said.
"It's great that they can be recognised for the positive impact they have on the lives of so many of our youth members."
Ms Shaw is one of 14 recipients from the Riverina area to be honoured in Scouts Australia's annual adult recognition awards list which is handed out on August 1 each year.
The 2nd Griffith Scout Group meets twice a week, with the Scouts and Venturer Scouts meeting on Tuesdays and the Joey Scouts and Cub Scouts meeting on Thursdays at 6:30pm at the Griffith Scout Hall on Abattoir Road.
