The Princess and High Commissioner of Tonga will recognise the Tongan community's contribution to the Griffith economy and strengthen close ties with the Tongan people living in Griffith and surrounds.
Tonga is Polynesian country comprising over 170 islands and the main island is Tongatapu with the capital Nuku'alofa. Tonga is a monarchy, officially known as the Kingdom of Tonga ruled by King Tupou VI. The Prime Minister is Akilisi Pohiva.
Planning for this year's Multicultural Festival is under way and anyone wanting to be involved in this year's festival, please contact the Multicultural Council.
Christmas Carols: The new Pacific Islander Christmas Carols evening is in the early planning stage and an invitation has been extended to attend the combined churches meeting to discuss a unified carols event.
Multicultural Resource and Information Centre: It is a question of a much-needed service because of the many migrants living in our community. The ongoing research for the centre is continuing.
Multicultural NSW: Later this month the Multicultural Council will participate and contribute to the Multicultural NSW new strategic plan and ensure our voice will be loud and clear for our region.
