Crime figures reveal crooks have motor vehicles in their sights in Griffith. While the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) data shows an improvement in most major crime categories, from March 2012 to 2014 there has been a 12.9 per cent increase in stolen vehicles and a 24.1 per cent increase in stealing from a motor vehicle.

LEON KEEPS FLAME ALIGHT
Griffith doctor Leon Thorpe honoured his home town and became part of history on Saturday by running with the Olympic torch through Melbourne. An emotional Dr Thorpe paid homage to Griffith after carrying the flame for 400 metres as part of the Athens Olympic Torch Relay.
DUMPING DOCUMENT CONCERNS
Griffith City Council staff will be asked to please explain a move last week which saw seven tonnes of paper dumped at the tip instead of being recycled.
SWANS CEMENT SPOT
Griffith Swans moved into outright second on the RFL table yesterday with a convincing win at home. The Swans totally outclassed Narrandera, winning the match 19-18-132 to 9-10-64, with brothers Michael and Rod Duncan leading the assault with five and three goals respectively.
