The Panthers were able to make a quick start with two quick tries to Stephen Broome and Glen Buerckner to hold a 10-0 lead with 15 minutes gone.
Philemon Taim got the Magpies on the board before Buerckner scored his second of the afternoon the restore the Black and Whites advantage.
Elvis Ayako was able to score on either side of halftime to give the Magpies the lead for a brief period before Andrew Lavaka crossed to give the Black and Whites a four-point advantage.
Brad Pocock crossed for two tries in the space of eight minutes to see the Magpies take a 28-20 lead.
Tim Lomai scored to secure the win for the Magpies before the Panthers got a late consolation try through Kelvin Simpson to see the score finish at 32-26.
The Black and Whites will have the bye while Hay takes on Yenda next weekend.
