The Yoogali side made a fast start with Mitch Bagiante able to tap in a cross from Grant Davidson to continue his strong start to the season in club colours which includes four goals in the State Cup.
Yoogali coach Luke Santolin has been pleased with the was Bagiante has started the season.
"He is getting into a habit of scoring early which is good it takes the pressure off and allows us to play with a bit more control," he said.
"He has become lethal but he probably would have wished to get a few more in the back of the net, and he will get hungrier in weeks to come."
Ryan Zanatta had a chance to pull the side level, but Michael Depaoli was able to push the shot away from goal with issues being compounded when Hanwood were reduced to 10-men after a tough tackle on Mason Donadel saw Fabio Dirico sent from the field.
Bagiante was in the right place at the right time after a Jack Moon shot was parried into the path of the forward who took the chance to make it 2-0. Moon scored a goal of his own after getting on the end of a David Laird pass to make it 3-0 at the break.
Josh Keenan made it 4-0 after the break after Baginate worked hard out wide to get the ball into the box with Keenan able to make the most of the chance while Isaac and Jacob Donadel added the final two goals to see Yoogali SC take home the six-goal victory.
Santolin said there was plenty to take out of the game.
"We created a lot of chances and kept a clean sheet," he said.
"I think that we still have a lot that we can do better, but it is a positive result."
The forward press was working well for Yoogali putting the Hanwood side under pressure and created chances and had it not been for the keeping of Dean Burge they could have been further in front.
"If you win the ball high it's not as far to get to goal. We will try and work on that and get better," he said.
"Some of our passes in the final third need to be a bit more accurate and we will get more joy out of it. But overall, it is good to get the first game of the season finally out of the way."
This weekend will see the Yoogali side play their third game in three days when they take on Yoogali FC while Hanwood will take on West Griffith.
"We love the games coming thick and fast," he said.
"Yoogali FC will probably be one of the top teams this year, and we look forward to playing them this Sunday."
