Two goals to Mitch Baginate, one of which was scored in spectacular fashion after good work from Jacob Donadel gave their side a chance before they lost 3-2 after the home side slotted a penalty in extra time.
Coach Luke Santolin was wrapped with his side's performance.
"It was a massive effort by our boys, and half the team left Griffith at 4.30am this morning," he said.
"We came up against a technically better side, and as soon as we walked out there we knew we would be up against it, but we were able to push them right to the end."
The Yoogali SC coach praised the work effort of Donadel to keep his side in the match.
"If not for Jake we would have been behind by more," he said.
"He was outstanding in defence today."
Yoogali SC will now turn their attention to pursuing a fourth straight Griffith District Football Association title when they get their season underway with a mid-week clash with Hanwood FC.
The catch-up game, which was meant to be played on Sunday, will get underway at 6.30pm on Wednesday night at Hanwood Oval.
