The Area News has spoken to casual teachers who say they've been left in limbo, and one blamed the problem on the Department of Education's use of the private app ClassCover.
ClassCover replaced the department's previous service formally known as Casuals Direct, but the transition hasn't been all smooth sailing for everyone.
The app currently has a 1.3 out of 5 star rating on iTunes, with users complaining that the system is riddled with bugs and flaws that make it hard to find work.
The experience has been much the same for one Griffith-based casual teacher, who said they often couldn't find any work even when schools like Murrumbidgee Regional High are known to have as many as twelve classes unsupervised in a day.
A Department of Education spokesperson said they were "aware of concern among some casuals", but that "there are no systemic barriers to casual teachers filling temporary positions".
