The Rod McNabb Caltex Handicap Matchplay reached its climax at the Griffith Golf Club last weekend in a contest between Toby Maher and Ian Arstall, with Arstall running out the winner.

The first hole was squared, and Arstall won the second. From there on he never relinquished the lead, turning two up. He won the 11th and 12th, to go four up, leaving Maher with it all to do.
To his credit, he won the 13th, dropped the 14th, then won the 15th.
Arstall then squared the 16th to take the win 3/2.
The member's event on Saturday was a single stableford with 73 players on a heavy course.
Max Turner, 38 points, won A Grade, draining birdies on the 5th and 15th.
Wayne Alpen, 37 points, was runner-up, carding nine pars.
Lenard Cavell, 38 points, won B Grade, nailing a birdie on the 5th ahead of John Gale 35 points, draining a birdie on the 7th.
Phillip Plunkett, 39 points, won C Grade, eight pars, with John Dalton 37 points second with five pars.
Pro Pins won by Steve Panazzolo and Martin Sweeney. Par Threes: 4th Steve Carruthers, 7th John Badoco, 11th Mike Coleman, and16th Cody Stokes.
Vouchers to 34 points.
A two grade single stableford on Sunday, with Jeff Wiscombe 35 points winning 0-18 Grade on a countback over Tony Dillon 35 points.
Adrian Mott, 37 points, won 19-36 Grade, Greg Smith, 35 points, second.
Jim Dickie won the 7th pin, and Jason Magoci 16th.
Vouchers to 32 points.
The AGM is to be held on Monday, May 20 at 7pm. Compared to the previous year, the club is moving in the right direction.
The board, led by Robin Salvestro, has been working tirelessly in this regards. A good attendance would be appreciated.
The annual cystic fibrosis charity day is coming up on Sunday, May 26.

Saturday's event is a 4BBB stablefdord, the qualifier for the Lowes Petroleum Match Play is a board event with 16 pairs to qualify for match play.
A double event on Sunday with eight pairs to qualify for the mixed matchplay in a 4BBB stableford and a single stableford for members.
The veteran's single stableford last Thursday was boosted by eight members from the Albury Commercial Club. Brian Savage, 40 points, won 0-18 Grade, John Bortolazzo, 37 points, was second on a countback over Mike Catanzariti. Wal Hood, 36, won 19-27 Grade from Doug McWilliam.
Doug Rixon, 38, won 28-36 Grade, Graeme Gifford, 35, second. Brian Savage birdied the 4th to win the pin, he also won the 8th. Vouchers to 32.
