The organisers behind the Banna Lane Festival put their ideas, reputation and money on the line to create an event far different from anything Griffith has seen in a long time.
Rarely do artists get the opportunity to work on a canvas the size of which can be seen in Banna Lane.
The organisers and artists didn't get any favours from the weather - sometimes it's just the luck of the draw. Fortunately, instead of a washout, the festival night was pushed to Saturday and was well attended.
There were families with children, young adults and even elderly people taking the time to examine the art, despite the weather getting in the way of its completion.
Rarely do good new ideas emanate from the bureaucracy, it takes someone with a little vision, leadership, and the scope to be able to pursue their idea.
It's not just the organisers that deserve the kudos, though.
The businesses who donated services, scissor lifts, paint and more, as well as the property owners who allowed artists to use their walls deserve some of the kudos.
When it comes to turning part of your building into a piece of public art, there's always the chance the it isn't immediately appreciated for what it is.

Without support from businesses or walls to paint the festival couldn't get off the ground, so well done to them for sharing the vision of the festival's organisers.
And better yet, Banna Lane also looks far better as a result. Hopefully the festival returns next year.
No doubt there's opportunities to improve the formula but there's a tremendous foundation to build from.
Our community and the bureaucracy ought to get behind the event when it returns so that it can become the event it has the potential to be.
What we saw on Saturday - and through the year once artists complete their work - is a tremendous idea that could provide a massive boost to our community.
Without our support, the event will not prosper, and that would be a shame because there is clearly the demand for this kind of event.
Events that aren't just family friendly, but appeal to young and old and and show off a different aspect to our vibrant community other than wine, food or salami.
