Guitar and piano, singing and dancing - our newest Young Musician of the Year Anastasia Comarin has the golden trifecta.
As the latest Griffith musician to have her name on the trophy, Anastasia grew up surrounded by music, and always knew she wanted to pursue learning instruments.
This was the second time Anastasia competed in the Griffith Musician's Club competition, last year doing a instrumental performance.
"I thought this year I would have to step it up to win it because there are so many talented musicians here," she said.
"So I decided to sing as well - and it was actually the first ever time I have sung in front of an audience before."
Check out our video of Anastasia performing her winning song 'Big Yellow Taxi' below:
Taking away a nice chunk of prize money, Anastasia says it will all go towards new musical equipment - either new guitar, a keyboard, or anything to further her musical interests.
Having done six grades of piano starting when she was young, she says her interest in guitar was piqued after her father started playing again.
This competition is such a great way to gain invaluable experience, exposure, and to encourage people out there to pursue music.Anastasia Comarin
"My dad picked up the guitar again when I was about 10, and I don't think that I would have learned it if he hadn't started too," Anastasia said.
"As a family we were always into music - I remember vividly listening to The Rolling Stones in the car with my dad. There was always lots of rock."
Her passion for music had been somewhat put on the back burner for a while, as dancing lessons as well as school work had taking up a lot of time and effort.
And yet she has quite extensive experience, being in the band for musicals such as Grease, Addams Family, Wicked, as well as now rehearsing for Legally Blonde.
Recently performing in a gig at the Leagues with friends, Anastasia says she is still undecided whether or not to pursue music as a career, however says it will always play a part in her life.
"I just want to thank all of my music teacher who have helped me along the way - I wouldn't be here without them.
"Also to the Griffith Musician's Club - this competition is such a great way to gain invaluable experience, exposure, and to encourage people out there to pursue music."
