The man took a breath test which returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.212, so he was charged with high range drink driving and had his driving licence suspended.
The driver suffered minor injuries from the crash and was taken to Griffith Base Hospital for examination.
The crash in question happened about 11.30pm on Saturday, when police were called to Merrigal Street.
Police found a black Holden Colorado with "extensive" damage, but the driver of the vehicle could not be found at that time, until he turned himself in to police.
In other drink-driving news, a 29-year-old man drove past Griffith Police Station at 6.30pm on Saturday, attracting the attention of officers because of his unusual manner of driving.
Police stopped the driver on Banna Avenue and smelled alcohol on his breath, so they gave him a breath test which came back positive.
He was taken back to the police station and given further tests, which showed a blood alcohol reading of 0.115.
There were a number of drivers caught during random breath tests over the weekend.

It happened some time after 5.30pm on Sunday, when the driver left their black Holden Cruze unattended on the Whitton Stock Route Road in Yenda.

Police and fire brigade arrived on the scene, and the fire was put out.
Police called the owner of the car and told them what happened.
In other news, between 4pm on Saturday and 7.43am on Sunday a white Holden Rodeo 4WD ute with a black box trailer was stolen from a house on Day Street.
At 8.30am on Sunday police got a call from a farmer who had found the trailer on their property.
Officers arrived on the scene and inspected the trailer, which was missing a Walker Zero-turn lawn mower, a Honda push mower, whipper snipper, blower, and a toolbox.
The Rodeo ute itself is still missing.
Another theft happened between 5.30pm Saturday and 11.20 Sunday; a set of NSW registration plates and a fuel cap from a Holden Commodore were stolen from a car parked on Banna Avenue.
