A 34-strong squad has been announced to take on Uni Norths in trials at Jarrah Oval on Saturday.
A probables and possibles scenario is expected to enlisted by new coach Nick McCarthy.
"We are planning on having a possibles and a probables and there will be movements between the two sides on the day, depending on how things are panning out," McCarthy said.
"We're taking on Uni Norths from Canberra with their first grade and second grade sides."
Overall he's happy with the talent assembled and the way players have committed to a much earlier uptake this season.
There is a real mixed of some experienced campaigners, those who came into the representative equation last season, some new players to the region and some younger talent.
McCarthy expects the clash with the Canberra side will be a good indication of how they are travelling.
"We've got a bigger year on the rep program with our City-Country game and trying to give more opportunities for guys who extend their own football," he said.
"We've got spatterings of experience there with (Harry) Hosegood, James Curgenven and guys who have been around the team for a while as well as some of the younger and newer guys to the zone.
"That is what we wanted to achieve this year - opening up the opportunity to anyone who thought they were up to the standard and giving them a chance to show it."
Ag College is the most represented team with nine players selected, closely followed by Wagga City with eight.
Premiers Waratahs have five but only Hosegood was in the starting side for the grand final.
CSU is the only team not represented.
McCarthy has been involved in the representative scene for a number of years but has stepped up to the head coaching role this season.
With a City-Country game on May 12 he's expanded the format and hopes it can help develop the strength of the zone.
"My aim for this weekend is to set ourselves a benchmark and a starting point for the rep program this year," McCarthy said.
"We've got a couple of extra games this season and what we want to do is be in a position to take the best possible side away for the June long weekend carnival as well as giving blokes more opportunity to put their hands up and show what they are capable of.
"I want these guys to be able to take the experience of playing a premier first grade side back to their clubs to assist in the development of the rest of the zone."
