Harrison was given the chance to officiate in the final round matchup between Penrith and Randwick Petersham, and for Harrison, it was a great privilege to umpire some well-known players.

One of those players happened to be Australian opener David Warner who is continuing his push to find form ahead of his pending return from suspension. Warner posted a century and watching him bat from the other end is something Harrison won't soon forget.

"You get such an appreciation for the ability that he (Warner) has," he said.

"It's one thing to watch it on TV or from the stand but to be out in the middle watching it was something else."

"The sound off the bat was unbelievable. One hit was coming straight for me, but the bowler got his hand out to stop it otherwise it might have cleaned me up."

The opportunity came after Harrison performed well regional championships over the last couple of seasons and caught the eye of NSW Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association and State Umpire Manager Darren Goodger.

"He (Goodger) had seen me involved in the State Challenge last season and the Kookaburra Cup this year, and he pulled me aside as asked if I wanted to come up and do a game in Sydney," he said.

Goodger was his partner on the weekend as the well-respected and well-known umpire as he officiated in his 350th game.

"To be able to umpire with someone like Goodger was great," he said.

"He is a great guy and well respected. It was good to have someone with his knowledge and ability to communicate."

After having a taste on the weekend, Harrison is hungry for more but knows commitments in Griffith will make that difficult.

"I'd love to do it again it's just unfortunate I'm 600km away," he said. "With a young family and commitments with Griffith cricket, it makes it hard to get up there. I'd be happy either way if I don't get the opportunity to head up there again."
