Griffith athletes have been lighting up the track with a strong contingent set to head to the State Little Athletics Championship over the weekend.

There will be a dozen athletes from the Griffith Little Athletics Club heading to Sydney for the championships which start on Friday after strong performances at the Region Four Carnival held in Griffith in early February.
It has been a good season so far for the Griffith club with Flynn Bonfield-Watson, Ethan Bonetto and Phoebe White all having success at the NSW Junior Athletics Championships in Sydney at the end of February.
Flynn competed in the U18s 100 and 200m sprints. He came away with PBs in both events of 11.84 seconds and 24.15 seconds respectively and overall placings of 17th and 12th in his events.
Phoebe competed in the U18s high jump and secured a 4th placing after jumping 1.55cm.
Ethan competed in the U16s 400m sprint and claimed the 2019 title of State under 16s male 400m champion. Ethan secured a PB of 52.04 seconds in his heat (and fastest qualifier) he then backed up for the finals, gained a new PB of 51.44 seconds; and claimed gold. Ethan will now progress to the 2019 Australian Athletics Championships to be held in Sydney from 1st-7th April in the 400m.
