Boarding at St Vincent’s College in Potts Point, Sydney offers girls countless benefits.
Boarders get the opportunity of an education that informs, transforms and empowers them to be courageous and compassionate women of action, like former boarding student Morgan Twigg.
Griffith girl excels in the visual arts
From her early years as a teenager, local Griffith girl Morgan, was very keen to go to boarding school.
When she began Year 10, in 2016, her dream came true and she said a temporary ‘good bye’ to her family and childhood friends.
“Looking back now after my three years as a boarder at St Vincent’s College in Sydney, I can honestly say I loved it,” says Morgan.
“At St Vincent’s you are so close to everything in the centre of Sydney. Whether you are walking to the Opera House or getting a train across the Harbour Bridge, you learn so many things and you gain so much independence.”
“The boarding house at the College has such lovely accommodation – I was sharing a room with another girl for the first two years, which I loved, and then in Year 12 you get your own room.
"It is a fantastic lifestyle with lots of fun activities at the weekends like going on a ferry trips or visiting beaches.”
At school, Morgan especially excelled in Textiles & Design and Visual Arts and at the end of Year 12 was rated as one of the top Visual Arts students in the state with an Art Express nomination and acknowledgement on the HSC Distinguished Achievers’ List.
She has work on display at the unique arts precinct at Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park and also at the Wagga Art Gallery.
Morgan has been accepted at the University of Technology Sydney for the Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Animation.
This is a three year course that gives students with a passion for visual arts the knowledge and hands-on experience required to create animation work that really stands out.
“While boarding at St Vincent’s College, I gained so much in confidence and now I am looking forward to my course at UTS,” says Morgan.
