An understrength Bulls proved far too good for Group 20 club Tullibigeal Lakes United in the opening clash of the annual pre-season event.
Utilsing their blistering speed Southcity scored a 22-4 win.
After overcoming a scrappy start captain-coach Kyle McCarthy was impressed with his team's performance.
"There was a bit of feeling out there and the first game back for most of the blokes so it was to be expected, but once we clicked and we started completing it just flowed," McCarthy said.
"The young blokes came on and never looked out of place so it is happy days."
Harry Lucas opened the scoring after nine minutes when he crossed out wide before Usaia O'Sullivan set up a try to Jordan Little minutes later.
The Bulls went further in front on the stroke of half-time as Jade Hodge busted out of a tackle to score and hand his side a 16-0 lead.
The Sharks got on the board three minutes into the second half when a lovely flick pass from Ethan Williams found Brant Frankel.
However the Bulls never looked in doubt and finished the rout as young forward Maleke Morris sold a dummy before putting a juggling Nathan Rose over to score.
Southcity did most of the damage out wide but it wasn't Plan A for the Bulls who adapted to compressed defensive line from their rivals.
Temora looked like they would make it two for two for the Group Nine clubs after taking a 13-6 lead over Griffith Black and Whites at half-time.
Kris Rands was going over to hand the Dragons a seven-point lead with only for Sam Elwin's pass to be controversially ruled forward.
The Griffith side capitalised on the slice of luck as Stephen Broome stepped through the line to seal a 19-13 win.
However the Dragons live to fight another day as one of the best losers.
Brothers, Goulburn and Young also won through with Temora, Darlington Point Coleambally and Mudgee the best of the losers and remain in the hunt.
Brothers took a 12-0 win over West Wyalong while a late try to Jarrod Williams was just enough to see DPC through.
They went down 18-6 put the try with a couple of minutes left on the clock was enough to surpass West Wyalong's scoreless effort.
Jesse Corcoran then kicked a field goal in the dying seconds to have Young a 13-12 win over Mudgee.
Southcity finished as the top ranked team and will take on the Roosters in the first of the quarter-finals at 4.30pm.
It is where McCarthy wanted to be.
"That is exactly what we are looking for," he said.
"Hopefully we can get a team who lost tonight and get a good run into the latter stages."
One again the four Group Nine clubs have been separated.
Brothers had the third best record and tackle Mudgee in the 5.10pm game in the top half of the draw.
Young plays Black and Whites at 5.50pm with the winner to face the winner of the last quarter-final between Goulburn and Temora in the second semi-final.
