What a difference the change of weather made to the Griffith golf course, with the Friday storm dumping over 16ml of rain, resulting in sudden grass growth off the mown fairways. This reflected on the scores in a single stableford last Saturday, with one player winning a voucher on 30 points.
Travis Millis, 40, 75 off the stick, won A Grade ahead of Ryan Salvestro, 39.
The course played havoc with B Grade scores, Bill Alpen, 33 points,was best on a countback over Ian Artall, 33 points.
Stephen Lightfoot, 42 points, easily won C Grade, Byron James 35 points runner-up on a countback over Jack Draskovic.
Matt Staines won the 4th and 8th pins, 7th Josh Stapleton, 11th Terry Brady, 15th Brett Polkinghorne, 16th Chris Green.
Sunday’s event was a two grade single stableford.
Peter Gill, 42 points, won 0-18 Grade, Col Vearing, 37 points second.
Frank Zambon, 36 points, won 199-36 Grade over Andrew Oates, 35 points.
Vearing won the 16th pin, Brett Angel 7th.
Vouchers to 33 points.
The first round of the Brady Painters Norm Saaxvick Memorial Red Gum Plate was completed last Sunday.
In a major upset, number one seeds and the winners for the previous two years, Dean Minato and Mitchelll Howard were knocked out by the bottom seeds, Trent Anderson and Neil Plunkett 2/1.

A one grade single stableford last Wednesday won by Albert Donadel, 38, draining birdies on the 5th and 11th from Garry Gardner, 36 points, nailing a birdie on the 16th. Vouchers to 33 points.
