Playing host to the carnival for the first time in almost three decades, it wasn’t just the sporting prowess on display.
President of Griffith’s Little Athletics Veronica Cudmore said our young athletes did us proud, and completed the perfect showcase of the city as a whole.
“It was fantastic,” Cudmore said.
“We’ve had lots of positive comments from visitors - they said it was a great venue, great weather, great city and a great carnival.
“The tracks were in perfect condition thanks to council’s parks and gardens staff.”

Many local sports starts went home with medals, already excited for the State Championships in March.
Among those were the senior boys relay team consisting of Chaise Sergi, Ethan Donetto, Flynn Bonfield-Watson and Jordan Virago, who had a nail-biting wait for the video footage to be reviewed in what turned out to be an extremely close win.
“The boys are really happy to defend their title - won last year and broke their record. They are over the moon,” Cudmore said.
Christian Calcutt came away holding four gold medals, with Connor Sully, Phoebe White and Leslie Ledwich also coming out on top with many other of the 48 Griffith athletes who competed across the weekend.

With an estimated 1500 people come through across Saturday and Sunday, organisers said many expect to come back for a holiday.
“Thank you to committee, parents, everybody who jumped in and helped, it was just amazing the way everyone banded together,” Cudmore said.
”We have some very excited children heading off to state.”
