The purchase of the new equipment was made possible with the Hospital Auxiliary Board, the Griffith Base Hospital’s Pioneer’s Trust Fund, as well as the fundraising efforts of the ‘Echoes Reunion’ concert held last year.
Dr Roopendra Banerji, gynaecologist and obstetrician at the hospital said this piece of equipment will make doctor’s jobs easier, and will give patients the peace of mind knowing they have state-of-the-art equipment.
Watch Dr Banerji explain the importance of this colposcope in the video below:
Gary Purcell, an organiser of the concert, said despite being 12 months after the concert, the excitement in seeing the state-of-the-art technology installed was not diminished in the slightest.
With the event a sell-out, the concert raised over $10,000 to go towards some new hospital equipment.
“It’s just great to be able to see the money we’ve raised going to something this worthwhile,” Mr Purcell said.
“It just goes to show the strength of generosity the Griffith community has.”
President of the auxiliary board Bruna Ross and Morris Massarotto from the Pioneers Trust Fund were both thrilled to help see another piece of important equipment take up residence at the base.
