The events are designed to help re-introduce the party and its federal candidate for Farrer, Kieran Drabsch, to voters around the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and remind people they have more than one choice at the ballot box.
Party member David Bell said it was important with state election set for March 2019 and federal election also likely to be called for some time this year.
“Every two months we’re having a barbecue at the same place,” Mr Bell said.
While Mr Drabsch will be on hand to talk politics, the event is designed around a friendly meet and greet.
“I want to be more than a corflute,” Mr Drabsch said.
“It’s about listening to the community about how we can make a difference, it’s not about me telling the community about what I want to do.”

Mr Drabsch said every town or village had a unique story.
“We need to make sure each of them receives the support they need to flourish,” he said.
Mr Bell said the MIA branch hoped to grow these events to become a family friendly community event in future, and potentially bring down members of the federal and state Labor parties to speak to residents.
“We want to address people’s issues. We are listening, we are here and we are genuine,” Mr Bell said.
The MIA branch of Country Labor will hold their community barbecues at Hay on February 10, City Park in Griffith on February 24 and two more in April in Leeton and Darlington Point.
