The egg out of CWA Park on Banna Avenue, commonly called ‘Egg Park’ after the iconic play equipment, was removed by Griffith City Council later last year due to safety concerns.
Upon learning of the removal of the egg after a report from The Area News, the community made themselves clear: “save the egg.”
It was called “iconic”, “local heirloom” and a “treasured” part of Griffith’s history, with calls for it to be moved and displayed in Pioneer Park Museum if it couldn’t be repaired or replaced.
One man even shared how he proposed to his wife in the egg many moons ago.
When asked if saving the egg for the museum was a possibility, Council’s director of infrastructure and operations Phil King advised that “council is still investigating options”.
