After winning the toss and electing to bat, Coro made a strong start through Mitchell Williams-Hedges and captain Rob Rand.
The opening pair put on 42 before Connor Bock (3/25) was able to make the breakthrough Exies needed as he dismissed Williams-Hedges (13) and followed it up with the wickets of Tim Rand (0) and Dean Bennett (3) while Joel Mulder was able to knock over Jamie Bennett (0) to see Coro lose four wickets for 11 runs.
Rob Rand (18) tried to maintain the early momentum before he became Mulder’s (2/39) second victim for the afternoon.
William Kennedy would prove to be the backbone of the Cougars middle order, and while Damien Walker (7) fell cheaply, he found a partner in Brady French.
The seventh-wicket pairing was able to put on a fifty run partnership and get Coro on the path to setting a competitive total before French (21) was run out by Exies captain Phil Burge.
Shane Hutchinson joined Kennedy at the crease and the pairing continued to get the runs ticking over with a 34-run stand before Tom Spry picked up Hutchinson (11) and Kennedy (60) in quick succession while Marc Tucker (1/30) brought the innings to a close when he dismissed Angus Kennedy (0) to see the Cougars finish on 172.
Fragility at the top would prove costly for Exies with Phil Burge (2) and Tom Spry (0) falling to the bowling of Williams-Hedges (2/19) while Angus Kennedy picked up Tucker (0), and Rob Rand dismissed Bock (0).
Craig Burge (26) was the only top order batsmen to get a start before he found help in the middle order.
Travers Pickmere (24), Aditha Jayasuriya (20) and Josh Davis (19) were all able to get starts, but the bowling of Dean Bennett (3/23) helped to tie down the Exies side.
Jimmy Nancarrow (12) was the only of the remaining batsmen from Exies to get a start before they were eventually bowled out for 136 in 35.5 overs to hand the Cougars a 36-run victory.
Coro will look to carry the form on when they take on Diggers next weekend while Exies have the bye.
