Phillip Andreatta was dreading some sweaty sleepless nights last week due to a planned power outage around Lake Wyangan.
However after much “whinging” to Essential Energy, the energy company decided to postpone the power outage.
“Common sense has prevailed,” declared the happy farmer.
The announcement came just as Griffith was suffering from some of the hottest temperatures in its recorded history, with several consecutive days reaching 45 degrees.
The news also came as a relief to some of the nearby farmers, who are storing their fruit in refrigerated packing sheds to stop them from getting stewed in the extreme heat.
Mr Andreatta said the farmers had been dreading the power outage, but that he was the only one complaining to Essential Energy.
After many formal complaints to the energy company, Mr Andreatta was delighted when he received a phone call letting him know that it was postponed.
“This story has a happy ending,” Mr Andreatta said.
Essential Energy acting regional manager southern Ian Armstrong said the electricity network maintenance needed to be postponed because of the extreme heat.
“For the benefit of customers and the health and wellbeing of our employees Essential Energy believed postponing the planned outage was necessary,” Mr Armstrong said.
